Dental Clinic Goals
CommunityHealth’s ability to deliver free dental services to our patients is driven by our volunteer workforce. Due to the high costs associated with dental care, it is unsurprisingly one of the services in greatest demand. Given the overwhelming need for dental services, our wait list continues to be very long (8-12 months — except in emergencies). Our long-term goal is to achieve the needed capacity that will allow all patients to have access to preventative, routine dental care. Help us achieve this goal!
Seeing patients at CommunityHealth is distinct from practicing dentistry in the private or corporate dentist industry because of the customer contact time you have here: when you are practicing dentistry at CommunityHealth, you will be doing just that. Too often your time at private and corporate dentistry is spent on administrative procedures, managing billing or other mundane tasks; volunteer dentists at CommunityHealth work solely with patients, performing procedures. Our guarantee to you is that you get to focus on the rewarding patient care element of dentistry in a state-of-the-art facility, while we take care of all the administration.
Our chairside assistants will ensure that you feel confident and comfortable walking into the clinic to practice your craft. They also know just how rewarding it is to work with our patient population: patient feedback lets us know how truly grateful the patients are for the work that volunteers do here. A commitment of just one 4-hour shift per month not only makes a huge difference to the patients you see, but it increases the total number of patients we can help.
If you would like to help us achieve our goal of providing access to preventative, routine dental care for all of our low-income, uninsured patients, please get in touch using the details below!
Patient + Provider Testimonials
“The thing that surprised me the most was the number of volunteers working together to help our patients. I was excited and even more motivated to work with the CommunityHealth team knowing that there were so many wonderful volunteers to work with.” — Michael Dyme, DDS, volunteer dentist
“On a few occasions, I’ve had the opportunity to treat someone who’s been in considerable pain, sometimes for days. When the anesthetic kicks in and diminishes their agony, the look of gratitude and relief that comes over them is incredibly rewarding. I’ve never experienced anything like that in private practice.” — Frank Gasior, DDS, volunteer dentist
“I came to CommunityHealth around a year ago for a dental exam and cleaning. I had a lot of pain before, and now it is gone. I am so happy! I don’t have a job at the moment, so it would be hard for me to find another place like this. Thank you!” — Veronica, patient
