CommunityHealth CEO Steph Willding Appointed to Chicago Board of Health

CommunityHealth’s CEO, Stephanie Willding, was recently appointed to the Chicago Board of Health by Mayor Brandon Johnson. This recognizes Steph’s commitment to community-centered care and health equity, positioning her to help shape public health policy at the city level.

The Chicago Board of Health advises the Mayor and the Commissioner of Public Health on all issues affecting the health of the residents of Chicago and supports the city in providing equitable health initiatives. The Chicago Department of Public Health appointed Steph and other new members with the approval of the City Council on April 16, 2025.

The Chicago Board of Health plays a vital role in shaping and guiding the city’s public health landscape. As a governing and advisory body, it develops policy by recommending health regulations and promoting the well-being of all Chicagoans, monitors the implementation of public health programs and ensures city health goals are being met, brings resident concerns forward and ensures community voices help guide public health efforts, and advances citywide initiatives designed to improve outcomes across neighborhoods and reduce health care disparities.

Board members are typically health professionals, academics, and community leaders appointed by the Mayor. They meet regularly to discuss critical health issues and shape policy accordingly.

“This appointment is not just a personal milestone, it’s a commitment to ensuring every Chicagoan has access to the care, dignity, and opportunity they deserve. I can’t wait to get to work,” Steph said.
