Beginning October 1, 2026, some noncitizens are no longer eligible for federally funded Medicaid. The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) has sent letters to individuals affected by this change.
Starting January 1, 2027, new Medicaid work requirements and twice-yearly eligibility renewals will also apply to individuals enrolled in Affordable Care Act (ACA) adult coverage.
