Location: Lederman Family Health Center (West Town), CommunityHealth at Onward House (Belmont Cragin), CommunityHealth at Enlace (Little Village), CommunityHealth at The Resurrection Project (Back of the Yards)
Training: 1hr info session (virtual), 1.5hr training (onsite), three 4hr shadow shifts (onsite)
Prerequisites: Negative TB test within the last year, Hepatitis B surface antibody titer
All levels of experience are welcome. Please note: lab work is based in phlebotomy. Academic/research lab experience is not relevant. Bilingual Spanish/English or Polish/English a plus.
Responsibilities: Lab volunteers are trained to perform a variety of venipuncture techniques and collect blood and urine specimens from patients. In addition, training will include use of our EMR and the Quest Laboratory internet portal. Volunteers at our microsite locations will also perform patient intake and record vitals.
Schedule/Commitment: At least two 4hr shifts/month for one year for those with experience. At least four 4hr shifts/month for at least three months is required for applicants who have no draw experience.
